1. This is an open dog contest for youth and adult participants.
2. All participants must pre-register prior to the show by contacting the Powhatan Extension Office at 598-5640 or email chowland@vt.edu. Preregistrations will be accepted through 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2010 at the Virginia Cooperative Extension Office or through mail. No late entries or class additions will be accepted. Please bring the completed entry form and rabies certificate with you to the contest on the day of the event.
3. There is no entry fee to participate in this contest.
4. Exhibitors and animals should be on site ½ hour prior to start of show by (11:30 a.m.).
5. No puppy under 4 months of age will be allowed to enter.
6. All dogs must be clean, in good health, and have necessary vaccinations.
7. A copy of a current rabies certificate is required and must be turned in with
registration entry form on day of event. Must call to pre-register.
8. All dog owners must demonstrate good manners and sportsmanship.
9. Dogs must be on a leash and under control of exhibitors at all times.
10. Leashes are to be no longer than 6 feet. Retractable leashes will not be allowed during the contest or on fair grounds.
11. Aggressive behavior in dogs will be cause for disqualification.
12. No dog in heat will be allowed to enter (there will be no refunds for dogs in heat.)
13. Treats or toys for dogs are allowed.
14. Owners will be responsible to clean up after their dog. Bags are not provided.
15. It is very hot during the Fair. No dogs may be left in cars.
16. Water and a bowl will be provided.
